With Haryana DGP Manoj Yadava into his extended term, Home Minister Anil Vij has directed the home department to immediately initiate the process of appointing Yadava’s successor by sending a list of seven senior-most IPS officials for the post of DGP to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Manoj Yadava’s tenure came to an end on 20 February and was given extension till further orders.

Home minister Vij mentioned in the orders that as per the orders of the Supreme Court of India, it was directed that all the states shall send their proposals in anticipation of the vacancies to the UPSC well in time, at least three months prior to the date of requirement of the incumbent on the post of DGP. In compliance of the various directions of the Supreme Court in this regard, and the fact that Yadava has completed his two years of service tenure as DGP, a panel of officials who have completed 30 years’ service and have a minimum of six months’ tenure left in service, to be sent immediately to UPSC to be considered for the next DGP of Haryana. The date of vacancy of the post may be considered as March 2, 2021. In view of this and based on the mentioned observations and the gradation list of IPS officers of Haryana, a panel of seven officers needs to be sent to UPSC immediately.

Along with this, Vij also directed that in case any clarification needs to be made in the above, then the same should be reached his office by 2 March 2021. The matter may be treated as most urgent and of top priority. Regarding the same, DGP Manoj Yadava said that the issue falls under the jurisdiction of the state government and he will follow the orders. It is pertinent to mention that Vij is well-known for his strictness. Present scenario clearly indicates that Vij is not in favour of Yadava as he is not in the good books of Vij. Earlier, it is learnt that gaps were reported between both of them which gave rise to differences.
