Japan PM Kishida on Monday reveals that he will announce his new plan on Free and Open Indo-Pacific on the soil of India, which he said is an “indispensable partner” of his country.
While conversing with the media during a joint press release which was held for the bilateral talks at the Hyderabad House, Japanese PM said that, “It gives me great pleasure to be able to unveil my new vision on the soil of India which is our indispensable partner in realizing FOIP.”
Kishida will deliver 41st Sapru House Lecture on the Indo-Pacific policy. Coincidentally, the late Japanese PM, Shinzo Abe, initially discussed the Indo-Pacific cooperation on his trip to Delhi 15 years ago.
Earlier in a tweet before departing for India, Kishida said that, “I also intend to further strengthen the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan. In addition, during my stay in India, I will announce a new plan related to the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).”
In addition, the Japanese Prime Minister also invited PM Modi to the G7 Hiroshima Summit, which is scheduled to take place in May, 2023. Kishida informed that PM Modi “immediately accepted” the invitation. He also added that both countries will cooperate to have a successful G7 Hiroshima Summit and G20 New Delhi Summit.
