Tamil superstar Rajinikanth met Rajini Makkal Mandram district secretaries and a few other office bearers at the Raghavendra Marriage hall to take a decision on making a political plunge. At least 100 fans gathered in front of Rajinikanth’s residence at Poes Garden and raised slogans urging him to enter politics. Rajinikanth reached the hall where the meeting was scheduled and around 50, including the district secretaries, were present at the meeting on Monday.

In the two-hour long meeting, sources said Rajinikanth expressed his unhappiness over the way the district secretaries strengthened the Rajini Makkal Mandram and how a few misused his name. During the meeting, Rajinikanth also spoke about his health condition that is stopping him from taking any decision. While speaking to several fans gathered outside the marriage hall, several fans said that they have “waited enough for Rajinikanth to make his political entry, but at least now, they will know whether he wanted to enter or not. But there is a need for a leader like him in Tamil Nadu.”

After the meeting, Rajinikanth returned to his residence and while addressing the media, he said: “We have exchanged our views and the district secretaries have said that they will accept whatever decision is taken by me(Rajinikanth); I will announce my decision at the earliest’.’ Though the district secretaries said that Rajinikanth will announce his decision late in the evening, there was no communication until this story went to press.

In 2017, Rajinikanth had announced that he will contest in all 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu and float his political party at the right time and face elections. However, until January 2020, there was no decision taken by him to start a political party, instead, he appeared before the media and said that he would enter politics after “tsunami like political change” happens in Tamil Nadu.
