According to authorities, the 58-year-old driver of the wedding party bus was detained after an accident that left up to 10 people dead in Australia’s Hunter wine region, north of Sydney.
Images on television showed the white coach, which was carrying guests to a neighbouring winery wedding, laying on its side after toppling late on Sunday night.Twelve emergency personnel were present, their cars’ coloured lights blazing in the foggy night, and they were all wearing high visibility yellow vests.
Multiple casualties are expected to rise after a bus crash in which 25 passengers were rushed to the hospital, two of whom were airlifted. The bus remains overturned with potential trapped individuals underneath. No children were involved. The coach driver underwent testing and is currently held at a nearby police station. Investigations into the accident are underway by New South Wales Police.
