Trump Announces U.S.–Pakistan Oil Deal

US President Donald Trump announced that the US and Pakistan have concluded a trade deal to jointly develop Pakistan’s “massive oil reserves”

Trump shared on Truth Social: “We have just concluded a Deal with the Country of Pakistan… We are in the process of choosing the Oil Company that will lead this Partnership”

Trump added: “Who knows, maybe they’ll be selling Oil to India some day!” suggesting potential future exports to India

Pakistani officials confirmed the agreement also includes lower tariffs on exports to the U.S. and broader trade-and-energy cooperation

Pakistan has around 332–353 million barrels of proven oil reserves—ranking roughly 52nd globally

This move comes just after Trump imposed 25% tariffs on Indian goods and follows tensions over India's ties with Russia—raising strategic questions
