The second day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini. In this form she strictly penanced to get Lord Shiva as her husband

She ate flowers, fruits, leafy vegetables, and Belva leaves for 1,000 years, praying to Lord Shankar. After 3,000 years, she stopped eating leaves and survived without food and water
