JRD Tata: From Flying High To Leading India's Top Companies

JRD Tata, the Father of Indian Civil Aviation, was born on July 29, 1904

He obtained India's first commercial aviator's certificate in 1929

 JRD Tata founded Tata Air Service, which later became Air India, and piloted its inaugural flight in 1932

He initiated 14 new Tata companies, including TCS, Tata Motors, and Titan

JRD Tata established Tata Administrative Service (TAS) in 1956 to train young leaders

He introduced the 8-hour workday, free medical services, and provident fund schemes for employees

JRD Tata founded Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in 1936 and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in 1945

He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1992, India’s highest civilian honor

 JRD Tata passed away on November 29, 1993, in Geneva
