External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar had a first bilateral visit after his re-appointment to Sri Lanka on June 20, 2024.
The visit highlights Sri Lanka's significance in India's 'Neighborhood First' Policy and SAGAR initiative.
He met with President Dinesh Gunawatdena and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali Sabry to discuss enhancing multilateral cooperation .
The meeting was followed by delegation-level talks with various Sri Lankan ministers, covering cooperation in power, energy, connectivity, port infrastructure, aviation, health, and tourism.
Both the countries are also collaborating on a maritime rescue coordination center to enhance air-sea rescue coordination and regional security within Sri Lankan waters.
The Sri Lanka's president for India's oath-taking ceremony indicated mutual growth and India's Neighborhood First policy.
