This week, on “We Women Want,” we talk to global women parliamentarians and members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) about the power of the sisterhood and the difference that women parliamentarians can make to the legislative process. Featured on the show are interactions with Cynthia Lopez Castro, MP, Mexico; Andreanne Larouche, MP, Canada; Maria Joao Costa, Secretary to Secretary General IPU; Veena Bhatnagar, MP, Fiji; and Assistant Minister of Women and Children, Aparajita Sarangi, BJP MP, Orissa and Ex IAS officer.

COMMON CONCERN
The women leaders may belong to different parliaments across the globe, but what came across was a shared agenda and a common concern for shared values as they discussed the role of gender in politics. They also gave an interesting insight into how priorities for women differ from those of their male counterparts.

WORK LIFE BALANCE
Interestingly, each was a case study by herself of how women can neatly work the work-life balance, balancing both home and the office. In fact, they also felt that the gender card helped format a calmer and more nurturing system of governance and also asked why this work-life question should only arise for career women and not their male colleagues.
The show was anchored by Priya Sahgal, Senior Executive Editor, ITV Network.
