Delhi Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar today accompanied Rahul Gandhi to meet the parents of the 9-year-old Dalit girl who was raped, murdered and cremated without her parents’ knowledge, at Old Nangal Rai, Delhi Cantonment.

Congress asserted that it will not stay quiet till the criminals are charged with murder and awarded death penalty. Congress also demanded trial of the case by a Fast-Track Court for the speedy disposal of the case. Ch. Anil Kumar said that the poor parents of the girl said that “she was also desh ki beti” (daughter of the country), and deserved justice. Ch. Anil Kumar had visited the family yesterday also, and promised the party’s support.

Delhi Congress also held candle-light march across the 70 Assembly Constituencies in Delhi, to pay homage to the girl, and demanded justice and financial help for the girl’s family. Ch. Anil Kumar took part in the candle-light march at Jantar Mantar. Prominent among those who participated in the candle march were Ex MP Udit Raj, AICC SC Department Chairman Nitin Naut, AICC secretary Tarun Kumar, ex-MLAs Jaikishan, Anil Bhardwaj, Kunwar Karan Singh, and others.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was surprising that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind, who was busy increasing the salary of his MLAs, could not spare time to meet the family till today, nor did he condemn the rape and murder of the little girl. He said that the girl’s body was cremated without informing her parents in a repeat of the Hathras incident

Ch. Anil Kumar said that CM Arvind, instead of addressing the problems being faced by Delhiites now, including the safety and security of women, broken roads, water-logging, the spike in the cases of vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya, was fooling people by painting a rosy future of making Delhi like Singapore by 2047, which shows not only his greed for power as he wants to continue in power till his late eighties, but his capacity to lie with a straight face. He said that by acting as the yes-man of the BJP Government at the Centre, CM Arvind was harming the interest of the people of Delhi.

Meanwhile, the state BJP president Adesh Gupta on Wednesday met the family of the minor, and assured the delivery of justice.

He also asked police for an impartial investigation into the matter and urged the Kejriwal government for providing adequate compensation to the victim’s family.

Gupta said that the incident that happened with the minor girl has put the humanity to shame. He demanded that police enquiry into the matter be completed in 15 days and the case be sent to a fast track court.
