Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on Sunday, said that the state government will soon be revising the ‘Start Up Policy’ with a lot of additional changes which will benefit the upcoming startups.

“We are in fact revising the Start Up Policy very soon with a lot of additional changes which will benefit the upcoming Startups. As of today, our IT department has certified more than 100 startups in Goa. Goa is fast becoming the preferred base for startups in India and our vision is to see Goa featuring in the top 25 Startup destinations in Asia by 2025,” said CM Sawant.

He further said that he believes that startups need an ecosystem created in order to foster a culture of ideation and innovation and that it is vital to encourage talent from the school and college levels.

“We have already started implementing coding and robotics education from school level. Our government has subsidised the fees for all the degree and diploma technical education in government and Aided Colleges. This will ensure that no student will be left out from opting for non-technical to technical courses,” he said.

Goa CM further stated that there is a need to integrate all stakeholders, and, at all levels, to boost the startup ecosystem in Goa. “We will soon have the Bharat broadband project implemented in Goa to ensure a very strong internet connectivity.”

He said that Goa does not have no shortage of skilled manpower in this sector and IT sector growth in the state will provide sufficient opportunities so that Goan youth in this sector are not forced to look for opportunities outside Goa.

“The Priority of the government is to retain Goans in Goa; I call upon the established business as well as aspiring entrepreneurs to expand their horizons and embrace new age opportunities,” he added.
