In Maharashtra’s Satara district, a 29-year-old woman was saved after falling into a deep gorge while taking a selfie. The incident occurred at Borne Ghat near the Thoseghar waterfalls, where the woman had traveled from Pune with friends. She plunged into the 100-foot-deep gorge, but thanks to the quick actions of a Home Guard and experienced mountaineers, she was safely retrieved.
A video of the rescue has since gone viral on social media, capturing the intense moments as rescuers worked to pull her from the gorge. The woman was promptly taken to a hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.
This incident follows a recent tragedy in Maharashtra’s Raigad, where a 26-year-old Instagram influencer, Aanvi Kamdar, lost her life after falling into a gorge at Kumbhe waterfall. Kamdar and her friends had been filming a video when she slipped into a deep crevice on July 16.
In response to these incidents, Pune local authorities have urged the public to engage in tourism responsibly and prioritize safety while enjoying natural landscapes. They stress the importance of avoiding risky behavior that could jeopardize lives.
