Ollie Robinson faced a challenging day in the County Championship Division Two match between Sussex and Leicestershire, enduring a record-breaking over where he conceded the second highest number of runs ever in first-class cricket. Sussex bowler Robinson was hit for five sixes, three of which came off no-balls, along with three fours and a single by Louis Kimber from Leicestershire. The sequence began with a six off the first ball, followed by a no-ball that was also struck for six. The next three legal deliveries fetched four, six, and four respectively. Another no-ball conceded a six, followed by a legal delivery that went for four, and finally, a single off the last ball brought some relief.

This over became the second most expensive over in first-class cricket history, with the record still held by Robert Vance, who conceded 77 runs in an over during the Wellington vs. Canterbury match in the 1989-90 season.

In international cricket, Ollie Robinson has played 20 Tests for England, claiming 76 wickets. Meanwhile, England is gearing up for the T20 World Cup semi-final against India. Former England captain and cricket analyst Nasser Hussain showered praise on Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for his stellar performance in the ICC T20 World Cup, particularly his explosive innings against Australia. Rohit’s aggressive knock of 92 runs off 41 balls, including seven fours and eight sixes, showcased what Hussain described as “brutal elegance at its best.” Notable highlights of Rohit’s innings included thrashing Mitchell Starc for 29 runs in one over, featuring four sixes, and dispatching Pat Cummins for a massive 100-meter six.

Speaking on the Sky Sports podcast, Hussain highlighted a significant shift in India’s T20I approach post their devastating loss to England in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final. He noted how this change in mindset became evident during the subsequent 50-over World Cup, where India’s aggressive batting under Rohit’s leadership led them to a runner-up finish against Australia. Reflecting on the ongoing T20 World Cup, Hussain acknowledged that while India struggled on challenging pitches like those in New York’s Nassau County Stadium, they regained their aggressive form as their batters gained confidence, spearheaded by Rohit Sharma’s leadership and batting prowess.
