The Howrah Warriors clinched their first victory in the Bengal Pro T20 League, defeating the Medinipur Wizards by five wickets. Opting to bat first, the Wizards were all out for 132, with Saksham Chaudhary taking an impressive five-wicket haul. During the Warriors’ chase, despite early setbacks, a crucial partnership between Pramod Chandila and Pankaj Shaw guided them to their target with just one ball to spare.

A standout moment in the match was Abhishek Das’ stunning catch to dismiss Deepak Mahato. In the 19th over of the Wizards’ innings, Mahato attempted a powerful shot towards long-on off Kanishk Seth. Positioned at the boundary, Das executed a spectacular single-handed catch and celebrated with Shikhar Dhawan’s signature thigh slap.

For the Wizards, Vivek Singh and Kaushik Maity were the top scorers with 34 and 32 runs respectively, but no other batsman managed to cross the 30-run mark. In addition to Chaudhary’s five wickets, Sujit Yadav and Kanishk Seth contributed with two wickets each.

In their chase, the Warriors struggled initially, losing five wickets for just 69 runs. However, Chandila’s unbeaten 46 and Shaw’s 36 not out secured the win in a thrilling finish. For the Wizards, Vaibhav Yadav took two wickets, while Shreyan Chakraborty, Deepak Kumar, and Kaushik Maity each claimed one wicket.

The Warriors are set to face the Malda Smashers in their next Bengal Pro T20 League match on Sunday.
