Ukraine Sanctions 3 Chinese Firms for Allegedly Producing Missiles for Russia

Three Chinese firms have been sanctioned by Ukraine. They are accused of playing a role in making sophisticated Iskander missiles. These missiles will reportedly be deployed in the conflict.

The development follows a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He made it one day ago. In it, he alleged that China has been selling weapons to Russia.

The Ukrainian government on Friday included Beijing Aviation And Aerospace Xianghui Technology, Rui Jin Machinery, and Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Xining in its list of sanctioned organizations. All these organizations are said to be registered in China.

“Today, we have expanded our Ukrainian sanctions against nearly a hundred more entities, natural and legal persons, most of whom are involved in the production of such missiles, Iskanders like those that struck our Kharkiv,” Zelenskyy said in a statement.

China Denies Allegations of Arms Support to Russia

China on Friday denied the assertion by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Beijing is providing deadly weapons on the battlefield.

“The Chinese side has never provided lethal weapons to any party in the conflict, and strictly controls dual-use items,” foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said.

Zelenskyy indicated that Ukraine possesses “intelligence” confirming that China is providing artillery and gunpowder to Russia, without providing any information and stating that Kyiv is “prepared” to negotiate the issue with Beijing.

Meanwhile, Beijing has said that its “position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear.”

“We have always actively made efforts for a cessation of hostilities and peace talks,” Lin said.

Ukraine Arrests Chinese Troops Allegedly Fighting for Russia

Zelenskyy spoke just days ago after Ukraine proudly displayed two captured Chinese soldiers fighting for Russia. Both men ratified that Russian commanders ordered them about, using body language because there was a lack of communication.

Earlier, Zelenskyy asserted at least 155 Chinese nationals served on Russia’s side. Kyiv made that claim before catching the two fighters, which amounted to the initial public evidence in support of reports that Chinese citizens might be among the combatants.
