New Delhi [India]: India reaffirmed its commitment to finding a peaceful solution to the Ukraine-Russia conflict through dialogue and diplomacy. During a weekly media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted India’s well-known position, emphasizing practical engagement between the conflicting parties and key stakeholders.

“Our position on the Ukraine-Russia conflict is well-known and understood. We have always advocated sincere and practical engagement between the two parties and other stakeholders through dialogue and diplomacy to arrive at or find a lasting resolution to the conflict,” Jaiswal stated.

PM Modi’s Role in Preventing Nuclear Escalation

Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for persuading Russian President Vladimir Putin not to use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Speaking to ANI, Bartoszewski explained that despite pressure from the United States, Putin initially resisted but reconsidered after receiving calls from PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“President Putin was threatening to use tactical nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory. The Americans sent many messages urging him not to, but he wasn’t persuaded initially. However, calls from India and China influenced his decision to back off,” Bartoszewski said.

India’s Consistent Diplomatic Engagement

India has maintained consistent communication with both Ukraine and Russia, along with other global stakeholders, to facilitate a peaceful resolution.

“Our conversations with the two parties to the conflict, as well as with other stakeholders, have been in keeping with this larger approach,” Jaiswal noted.

Raisina Dialogue Highlights India’s Global Influence

Bartoszewski, attending the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi alongside other world leaders, acknowledged India’s growing influence in global diplomacy. His remarks underscore India’s ability to mediate critical global issues, reaffirming its stance on promoting dialogue and peace.
