Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar arrived in Rajasthan on a one-day visit on Thursday.
Upon their arrival at Jaipur Airport, they were welcomed by Governor Kalraj Mishra and Minister Mahendrajit Singh Malviya. Following this, they visited the Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute in Avikanagar. There, they were warmly welcomed by students from the central university. During the program organized at the institute, in his address, the Vice President praised the work being carried out by the Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute. He stated that everyone was amazed at India’s development in the G-20. He said, “The President of the World Bank has said that the development that has taken place in India in the last 6 years could not have happened even in 50 years.” He also emphasized that the biggest contribution to this development comes from farmers and organizations involved in agriculture.
The Vice President planted a banyan tree in the institute’s Technology Park. During the tree planting, he helped an institute employee wash his hands. Subsequently, he was given an incentive of 500 rupees. He obtained information about the woollen items produced by the institute and also interacted with a group of farmers who had come to the institute.
India is Changing Because of Farmers
The Vice President stated that India is changing because of its farmers. Since April 1, 2020, 80 crore people in India have been receiving free rice, wheat, and lentils from the government. This power is of our farmers, and this ration is being made available to farmers. Recognizing the need for changes in agriculture, Dhankhar said that India’s farmers need to change, and he expressed happiness that this change is happening. The Vice President called upon the country’s agricultural scientists to become the inspiration for this change.
