The taste is likened to a “kachori,” another fried snack, adding to concerns about the unhygienic and potentially hazardous cooking method. Netizens have flooded social media platforms, urging India’s food safety regulator, the FSSAI, to investigate the matter. The caption accompanying the video sarcastically labels it a “true recipe for cancer,” emphasizing the health risks associated with consuming such food. This incident comes on the heels of new dietary guidelines released by the ICMR-NIN, urging Indians to adopt healthier eating habits. The guidelines stress the correlation between poor diet and non-communicable diseases, which contribute to over 56% of health issues in India.

In response to the allegations, the owner of the shop, Channi Singh, has vehemently denied the claims, stating that they do not prepare or serve “diesel paratha” to customers.
