Zerodha’s Nithin Kamath After Europe Trip: ‘Everything Seems Like Cut, Copy Paste’

Nithin Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, recently shared his thoughts on his trip to Europe in a post on X. Reflecting on his travels through several European countries, he remarked that everything seemed quite similar to India, with only minor differences. “I recently returned from visiting several countries in Europe. Everything feels like a cut, copy, and paste with very small differences,” he wrote.

Kamath contrasted his European experiences with life in India, highlighting the country’s vast diversity. “In contrast, India is more like a continent than a country. The diversity in terms of languages, food, culture, etc., between the 28 states and within each state is nuts,” he said. “Every time I think of this, I am amazed at how the country actually came together,” he added.

Nithin also shared a past tweet where he discussed the challenges of building businesses in India. He had noted that while targeting a small group of affluent, English-speaking people was easier, reaching a larger, more diverse audience was much more complex. “I guess the right way to think of this is, India is many countries in one. What works in one state or region may not work in another,” he had written.

Social Media Reactions

Kamath’s post sparked a discussion online, with users sharing their views. One user agreed, saying, “Simply couldn’t agree more. The richness of the culture coupled with the obvious grunge, makes for a far more fulfilling habitat. Also, Indians are wayyyyyy warmer and kinder.”

Another commented, “It’s incredible how such a diverse nation has managed to unite under one identity while still celebrating its regional uniqueness. The rich cultural heritage and the ability to coexist harmoniously is something that sets India apart.”

One individual added, “Been saying the same since 2 years. India is a world in itself.” Another user said, “Europe: Same vibe, different accents. India: Travel 100 km, and you’ll need a translator, a new spice tolerance, and a crash course in local customs. Unity in chaos—it’s our superpower.”

The post has garnered over 2 lakh views to date.
