Woman Requests Leave With ‘Mom Will Kill Me’ Excuse; Boss Replies With…

An Indian woman used a clever excuse to ask for half-day leave on a Saturday, and her request has gone viral. The incident was shared on social media by X user Prachi, who posted a screenshot of her WhatsApp conversation with her manager.

In her message, Prachi requested a half-day leave for a family event and used multiple “pleases” to emphasize her need. She wrote, “Hello ma’am, Good Afternoon! I wanted to request a half day this Saturday. I understand a leave may be difficult given the project day, but kindly please grant me a half day, as I have to go with my family for a personal event. Please grant me the same.”

Her boss responded humorously with a request of her own, “Please please don’t take,” accompanied by three crying emojis. Prachi replied, “Please na ma’am. I really need to, my mom will kill me.”

Prachi captioned the post, “Imagine being 25 and still pulling the mom said no card,” adding a touch of humor to the situation.

Social Media Reactions:

The post quickly gained traction, racking up nearly 200,000 views and a range of comments. Reactions were mixed: some found the interaction endearing, while others questioned the need for such a dramatic request.

One user commented, “That is why I don’t request leaves, I simply inform my unavailability to my direct manager.” Another remarked, “Imagine the toxic work culture where an employee has to beg for half a day that too on a Saturday.”

On the lighter side, one user found it “cute,” while another criticized the culture that forces a 25-year-old to “beg” for time off and then brag about it on social media.
