Recently a New York lady posted a well-known video revealing the odd layout of her bathroom; it has a sink-toilet combination that amazed social media. Though it has drawn sharp rebuke, Emily Bonani, a local resident, noted the small design intended to maximize space.
Unusual Bathroom Arrangement
The TikTok clip, which has become hugely popular, features Bonani’s unusual bathroom configuration. The sink sits right above the flush tank of the toilet, so it is a practical but space-saving idea. The *New York Post* notes she pays $2,000 (about ₹1.73 lakh) monthly rent even if the apartment is small. The hitch is that the sink only works once the toilet has been flushed.
Bonani humorously argues in her video that it might be “the smallest bathroom in all of New York City” and invites viewers to contradict her. Frustrated, she says ” what if I want to flush the toilet but not to turn on the sink? … that’s not an option!”

Social Media Responses
Reacting in astonishment, users have given nearly 13 million views on TikTok and more than 43,000 likes on Instagram for Bonani’s entry. Comparisons to a “prison toilet” abounded, with many calling the arrangement unsanitary. One user said, “This appears like something out of a horror movie—I can’t use that daily.” Another said, “What if you don’t want to wash your hands right around flushing? Nasty!”
Some doubted its usefulness—a comment read: “This is more than just a recipe for disaster; it’s beyond saving room.” Others, meanwhile, felt Bonani’s case and the challenges of living in New York City should be recognized. One commenter observed, “New York flats are small and costly.”
Some were more engaged; several others were repulsed. One user quipped, “Would love to see how they wash this!” and another said, “The things people will do to fit a little area.”
