A 26-year-old woman recently opened up about her increasing worry over her 33-year-old husband’s extreme passion for professional wrestling, which she believes threatens to destroy their marriage. In a now-famous Reddit post, she explained how her husband’s occasional interest in wrestling became an all-encompassing hobby.
“He’s stuck to the couch every evening there’s a live pro wrestling show,” she wrote, describing how he went from watching occasionally occurring shows like WrestleMania to spending hours per week on multiple wrestling programs. It has caused her to be concerned about the toll it takes on their relationship.

Obsessive Behavior
Aside from the time spent on it, his conduct during events has also been disturbing. “He screams at the TV as if he is among the people, cheering or jeering,” she described. He often orders her to join in by adopting wrestlers’ catchphrases and gets angry when she doesn’t. “He gets annoyed actually if I am not playing a game with him like raising my hand for ‘acknowledge me.'”
His fixation is also affecting their budget, as he spends ‘A LOT of money’ on gear like T-shirts, caps, action figures, and replica championship belts.
Role-Playing and Marriage Tension
Things went out of control during WrestleMania weekend when she asked her husband to be addressed as ‘the final boss’. She assumed that he was kidding, but he got mad at her for not doing what she was told, saying she didn’t have his back. “We did actually fight about it Saturday night,” she said.
The effect of his fixation has even extended to their personal life. Although she did not give details, she said she felt uneasy with his requests for role-playing wrestling-themed situations.
Emotional Impact of Wrestling Loss
Things got to a worrisome place when her beloved wrestler lost WrestleMania. “Sunday night the wrestler he wanted to win didn’t win, and it’s still affecting him today,” she explained, adding that his attitude was ‘sour’ and he appeared ‘depressed’. Surprisingly, his quietness afterwards was ‘kind of nice’ compared to his normal boisterous ways.
Her Breaking Point
In her concluding statements, the woman stated explicitly that she was coming close to her breaking point: “He sings the wrestler songs, he does their sayings, he’s got all their T-shirts, he’s even got tickets for us to the next show coming through in about 3 weeks. But I just don’t think I can take it.”
The Reddit users reacted to the post with a mix of emotions. Some took the situation lightly, with one of them making a joke, saying, “Sounds like someone doesn’t respect their Tribal Chief.” Another user commented on a typo in the post, observing, “The intentional misspelling of Roman Reigns was a dead giveaway. Roman is too common of a name (as well as a descriptor for people from Rome) to be spelled as ‘Romen’ unless you did it on purpose.”
