Virat Kohli did the inevitable as he confirmed his Test retirement on Monday morning. The 36-year-old Indian icon, a trailblazer in Tests, chose to say goodbye to the format he owned during his prime years between 2014 and 2019. It was trending for a week that Kohli won’t take the flight to England for the series ahead and decide to end his career.
But the final Instagram statement has left many of the superstar’s fans stunned, and it appears that some in the media are also not capable of understanding Kohli’s retirement from the longest format.
Paparazzi’s Remark Catches Virat Kohli Off Guard

Virat Kohli returned to Mumbai on Tuesday night after taking a few days off in Vrindavan. The right-handed batsman landed in Mumbai along with wife Anushka Sharma. It was then the paparazzi swarmed around Kohli and one remark caught Kohli off guard.
As soon as Kohli came out of the airport to make his way towards his car, one shutterbug said, “Kohli sir, hello. Aapne galat kiya, retirement kyun liya? Ab hum cricket he nahi dekhenge. Mai ab cricket nahi dekhunga. (You did wrong. Why did you take retirement? We won’t watch cricket any longer. I won’t see cricket.”
This remark came as a shock to Kohli, and he was shocked that it was even being hinted at that the shutterbug no longer wanted to view cricket because he was retiring. Yet, Anushka Sharma played a game of poker when she walked over towards her automobile.

The paparazzi even asked Kohli to pose with them. But the batter appeared to be in a rush and let the paparazzi know that he would do this later when he reaches the airport to head to Bengaluru.
Kohli will be heading to Bengaluru soon for the restart of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The tournament will be back on May 17 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Kolkata Knight Riders match.
