A young girl from Bihar narrowly escaped injury after avoiding a lightning strike while filming a video on her rooftop, which has since gone viral on social media. Sania Kumari, dancing in the rain on her neighbor’s roof in Sirsia Bazar, Parihar, abruptly fled as lightning struck nearby, captured unintentionally by her recording phone.

The incident sparked widespread reactions online, with users expressing relief that Sania escaped unharmed. One user remarked, “Good luck/fortune helped her escape from disaster,” while another pointed out the obsession with creating social media content, stating, “Addiction is at the peak.”

Tragically, the same day saw lightning claim the lives of at least eight individuals across Bihar, with fatalities reported in Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Araria districts. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed sadness over the deaths and urged caution during severe weather, advising residents to prioritize safety and follow Disaster Management Department guidelines.

In Odisha, five fatalities were reported in Bargarh and Bolangir districts due to lightning strikes amid heavy rainfall. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced compensation for the victims’ families, emphasizing ongoing rainy conditions and urging preparedness for further showers expected in the coming days, according to Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.
