At a recent event at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang shared a heartwarming story about how he won over his wife during their teenage years. Huang, who was at the university to receive an honorary degree, recounted meeting his wife, Lori Wills, when he was 17 and she was 19. She was one of only three females in a class of over 200 students.

“I was 16 when I went to college and I met my wife when I was 17,” Huang said. He humorously described himself as looking like a “kid” back then, unsure how to approach her. Eventually, he decided on a playful and light-hearted approach, using a “foolproof pickup line”: “Do you wanna see my homework?”

Huang continued, “This light-hearted approach, coupled with my commitment to study with her every Sunday, and my ambitious promise to be a CEO by the time I was 30, won her heart.”

Jensen Huang was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Engineering degree for his exceptional contributions to technology and engineering, particularly in the fields of AI and graphics processing. The university’s post on the event praised Huang’s achievements and emphasized how his visit fosters inspiration and collaboration among the scholars and innovators.

Huang met Lori Wills while they were both students at Oregon State University. The couple became lab partners, and five years later, they married. The couple has two children, Madison and Spencer, both of whom work at Nvidia. Madison serves as a director of marketing, while Spencer is a senior product manager at the company.
