In a widely shared video, she holds onto the side of the vessel and steadies herself on her hips over the water as she urinates publicly. Most social media users alleged that the video depicted an American tourist defecating in India's Udaipur Lake. These assertions, coupled with the strange images, created outrage on social media as people argued about the conduct tourists should have and what role visitors play in public.
In the footage, the woman grips the side of the boat with both of her hands. Her pants are partially down, and she's got her T-shirt up a little bit. She leans back sufficiently to keep herself in a squat-like stance above the water. She is relieving herself. There is a crocodile visible in the video, swimming in the vicinity.
No sooner had the video gone viral on the internet than several users condemned the woman for her unbecoming and uncleanly attitude. A user said, "She bunked the class for civic sense."
Another said, "If an Indian does the same abroad, then." "Please send her back for ruining our spot in the name of tourism," somebody insisted.
One used extreme wrath, typing, "Wasn't there a bucket on the boat she could crap into if it was an emergency? What disgusting habit is this? She needs to be put in jail and fined. Or is she a street girl in the USA??? Go spew garbage there, woman; this isn't your country. Arrest her and fine her severely!!!
Besides the criticism, some users looked at the video differently, with one writing, "Anyone think maybe this was a bathroom emergency and there was no loo on the boat and maybe it was an act of desperation?" "If the boat administration can't offer her a toilet, what is she supposed to do?" another comment read.
Unlike the viral assertions, she is not an American traveler in India. She is Ellie Jean Coffey, an Australian model and athlete. Ellie posted the video on Instagram with a caption reading, "Holding on for dear life." Her other posts affirm that the lake where she is holding on for dear life is actually in Australia. It is Lake Argyle, situated in Kimberley close to the town of Kununurra.
In another video from the same location, Ellie identifies a crocodile in the water, referring to it as, "Look at him staring. Aww, chilling on here with an old mate. Probably, they stalk up here, so I peed on the side. Now he is right at me to go again." Who's stalked following us around?" Although this verifies that the video was recorded in Australia rather than Udaipur, she is nonetheless caught urinating in the water on camera.
