US Locals Try Pani Puri For The First Time, Video Goes Viral

Pani puri, one of India’s most beloved street foods, has made a splash across the globe, delighting locals in the United States. A recent video of Minneapolis residents trying pani puri outside Curry Corner, an Indian restaurant, has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread interest and nostalgia among viewers.

The short clip, which has garnered over 3.9 million views and more than 90,000 likes on Instagram, captures the reactions of Minneapolis locals as they sample the flavorful snack. The varied responses ranged from “speechless” amazement to repeat visits for more helpings. The restaurant proudly captioned the post, “We took the most popular Indian street food to Minneapolis streets.”

The video resonated with many, stirring fond memories and evoking strong emotions among viewers. One user commented, “Man, I stopped at an Indian spot in Chicago one day and tried pani puri for the first time and started crying tears of happiness.” Another added humorously, “At least 30 panipuri in one go is minimum. 1 or 2 panipuri is nothing for me.”

The passion for pani puri was evident in another comment, “Until you eat 20+ pani puris breathlessly with tears streaming down your face in a row, you haven’t known the truth of eating it.” The love for the snack is undeniable, as reflected in yet another remark: “Because here a panipuri plate has 5-6, so the Indian guy was like, ‘I’m not leaving without 5 even if it’s free.’ Panipuri is true love.”

One particularly dedicated fan shared, “As someone who has eaten pani puri almost every week for over 20 years, you don’t just eat ONE pani puri. You have to eat 8 at least to bless your soul.”

The viral video highlights not only the delicious and unique taste of pani puri but also its cultural significance and the deep-rooted memories it evokes for many. The success of this street food in Minneapolis showcases its universal appeal and the joy it brings to those who try it, whether for the first time or as a beloved part of their culinary tradition.
