In the wake of the continued impacts of Pahalgam Terror Attack, the situation between the two religious communities, Hindu and Muslim has been encountering turmoil constantly. Social media is packed with videos- Old and New that depict the depth at which religious differences are sowed.
One such case came to the fore recently when a viral video caused mass outrage on social media. A Delhi politician was accused of refusing service from two UrbanClap (now Urban Company) technicians after discovering their names and requesting a Hindu technician instead.

The incident is said to have occurred at the politician’s house in the capital, where the two technicians had gone to carry out a routine service. The politician, as per the video making rounds online, asked them for their names before opening the door to them. Upon hearing Muslim names, he refused to let them in and called for UrbanClap to send someone from the Hindu community.
The video, first posted on social media by an onlooker, depicts the politician engaging in a confrontation with the technicians. Even though the technicians did not lose their temper, they were denied work for no other reason than their religious identity.
Neither has the company issued an official statement nor did social media react to the naked religious discrimination without outrage, and people tagged UrbanClap demanding accountability.
The incident sparks debates about secularism, inclusivity, and communal harmony in India’s service sector.
