A disturbing incident from Jaipur has sparked outrage after a viral CCTV video captured a pickup truck allegedly targeting street dogs, resulting in the death of a pregnant canine. The incident occurred around 5 am on Wednesday in a residential colony, leaving locals shocked and furious.
Truck Seen Swerving Towards Sleeping Dogs
In the chilling footage, a pickup truck is seen entering a narrow road where two stray dogs were sleeping. One dog gets up on seeing the vehicle, prompting the truck to swerve sharply, seemingly in an attempt to run it over. The attempt fails.
But what follows is more horrifying — the truck then drives straight towards another pregnant dog, who struggles to move away in time. The vehicle runs over her, crushing her under its wheels. The driver does not stop and drives away from the scene.
Reaction and Public Outcry
As the truck leaves, the dog that narrowly escaped the earlier attempt can be seen chasing the vehicle. The injured pregnant dog writhes momentarily, before three other dogs gather around her along with the one who tried to chase the truck.
Residents rushed out upon hearing the dogs’ cries. Moved by the scene, they performed the last rites for the pregnant dog and immediately filed a police complaint, demanding strict action.
Police Action and Search for Driver
Authorities have since seized the pickup truck, but the driver remains absconding. Police confirmed that a case has been registered, and teams are working to trace the accused.
Residents are calling for the accused to be booked under stringent animal cruelty laws. “The brutality of this act is beyond comprehension,” one local said.
