Tourist Attack on Security Guard Leads to Arrests in Mamallapuram : WATCH

An incident in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, resulted in the arrest of three tourists after a security guard, 49-year-old Ezhumalai, was physically assaulted for stopping them from parking in a no-parking zone.

Confrontation Turns Violent

Footage of the altercation shows Ezhumalai blocking a group of tourists from parking in a restricted area, sparking a verbal argument. Things escalated quickly when one woman stepped out of the vehicle and began slapping Ezhumalai. Three others—another woman and two men—soon joined in, mercilessly beating him. At one point, they took his stick and used it to hit him. Ezhumalai was eventually rescued by bystanders who responded to his cries for help.

Arrests Made After Complaint

Ezhumalai filed a complaint with local authorities, leading to the arrest of three individuals. According to the sources, the suspects include 41-year-old S Prabhu Inbadass, 29-year-old K Keerthana from Mudichur, and 38-year-old Shanmuga Priya from Maraimalai Nagar. Shanmuga Priya’s husband is currently on the run.

Incident Sparks Social Media Outrage

Journalist R. Sivaraman shared the video on social media platform X, writing, “Women tourists beat a private security personnel near Five Rathas, Mamallapuram when he asked them not to take their car to no parking area. Hope Mamallapuram police will act on seeing this.” The video quickly went viral, attracting a wave of comments expressing shock and anger.

Public Reactions

One user on X wrote, “The family seems to be in serious need of mental health treatment. The first woman should get jail and shock treatment. This is unacceptable. I hope the police take swift action.” Another user added, “They should be behind bars! No matter the situation, they had no right to assault the guard.”

While some condemned the tourists’ actions, a few also criticized the bystanders for not intervening, noting, “The person filming didn’t even try to stop the attack.”

The viral incident continues to prompt outrage, with many calling for strict legal consequences for the tourists involved.
