Thief Leaves Rs. 20 Note To Owners After Finding Nothing To Steal At Telangana Hotel

A robbery attempt in Telangana took a comical twist when a disappointed thief, unable to find anything to steal, left Rs. 20 on the table before leaving. Footage of this “honest thief” is now widely circulating on social media, amusing thousands of viewers.

According to Times of India’s Samayam Telugu news website, the thief broke into a hotel in Maheswaram in the Rangareddy district of Telangana with the intent of stealing cash. He used a rod to break the front lock and gain entry.

However, after a thorough search of the hotel yielded no cash or valuables, the thief expressed his disappointment through CCTV cameras. The footage shared online shows the thief, who wore gloves, a cap, and a face mask to conceal his identity, looking up at the surveillance camera and seemingly questioning why the business had no money.

Instead of leaving empty-handed, the thief grabbed a beverage from the refrigerator. Before exiting, he opened his wallet and left Rs. 20 on the table, as if paying for the drink.

This might be the first robbery where a thief ended up poorer than when he entered, and social media users quickly saw the humor in the situation.

“A thief with morals. Wow,” wrote one X user. “If it were a politician, he would have taken away that fridge also,” joked another. Many people simply dropped laughing face emojis in the comments section.

This is not the first time a thief has had a change of heart. Earlier this month, a thief in Mumbai, overcome with remorse after realizing he had stolen from a famous Marathi writer, returned the valuables he had taken.
