Mukesh Ambani, India’s wealthiest individual and chairman of Reliance Industries, along with his daughter Isha Ambani, recently dined at Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna’s New York restaurant, Bungalow. Renowned for its opulence and exclusivity, Bungalow has swiftly become one of New York City’s hottest dining spots, with reservations vanishing in mere seconds. During their visit, the Ambanis were greeted warmly by Khanna, who honored India’s rich cultural heritage.

A Warm Welcome with Indian Traditions

Chef Khanna greeted the Ambanis in a uniquely Indian manner, involving them in a traditional ritual of lighting diyas—a gesture symbolizing continuity and celebration as Diwali approaches. The restaurant was adorned with six varieties of Isha’s favorite flowers, roses, and Ganga Jal, reflecting Khanna’s profound respect for Indian culture. Additionally, the evening featured an original Reliance logo crafted from marigold flowers, serving as a personalized tribute to the Ambani family legacy. Khanna expressed his gratitude on social media, stating, “It was an incredible privilege to welcome them to Bungalow and celebrate the spirit of India in a global setting.”

Bungalow: A Culinary Sensation in New York

Since its launch in March, Bungalow has made waves in New York’s culinary scene. Recently recognized with a prestigious three-star rating by The New York Times, it became the first Indian restaurant in nearly 25 years to achieve such an honor. The restaurant’s unique fusion of Indian flavors and British-inspired club ambiance has garnered popularity among both locals and international patrons.

Bungalow’s exclusivity is highlighted by its reservation system, which opens 15 days in advance, with seats selling out almost instantly. This overwhelming demand has solidified its reputation as one of the most sought-after dining venues in New York.

Celebrating India’s Culinary Diversity

At Bungalow, the Ambanis enjoyed dishes that showcased the richness of Indian cuisine, with influences spanning from Kashmir to Kerala. Khanna’s menu included signature offerings like Goan-inspired Shrimp Balchao Cones, Sindhi Aloo Tuk, and Yoghurt Kebabs wrapped in Kataifi. Catering to the Ambani family’s vegetarian preferences, Khanna also curated a selection of plant-based dishes to ensure a personalized dining experience. The restaurant’s cocktails were equally noteworthy, featuring unique concoctions such as the turmeric-infused Kaali Peeli Taxi and the masala chai-based Chai Paani, which added a nostalgic flair to the evening.
