Speaking personally and mostly to say hello before your next engagement, I’m curious—during your diplomatic tour across various Western Hemisphere countries, have any government officials asked you to provide proof of Pakistan’s involvement in the initial attack? And how do you respond to Pakistan’s repeated denials?”

Shashi Tharoor responded with good humor, “I’m very glad you raised this, Ishaan. I didn’t plant it, I promise you. This guy does this to his dad.” This exchange brought about applause and laughter from the audience.

Social media users have since embraced the interaction as a charming “dad-son moment.” One user commented, “That ‘Raise your mic’ was classic dad mode. Diplomat Tharoor would’ve asked him to be louder!” Another added, “Such a wholesome moment. Kudos to Ishaan for the perfect question.”

After the lighthearted exchange , Tharoor addressed the question, affirming that no foreign interlocutors had demanded evidence regarding India’s claims. He highlighted that the Indian government had acted based on compelling proof and emphasised a 37-year pattern of terror attacks allegedly originating from Pakistan, along with repeated denials. He referenced past incidents, such as the Osama bin Laden raid and the 2008 Mumbai attacks, to underscore his point, noting Pakistan’s history of dispatching terrorists and denying involvement until incontrovertible evidence emerges.
