‘Smelled Like Cat Pee’: Woman Dumps Boyfriend After Visiting His Dirty Home

A woman’s Reddit post about a disastrous third date has gone viral after she described the shock of visiting her boyfriend’s unclean house. The woman, in her mid-40s, was invited by her partner—who has children part-time—for the first time to his home. Instead of a cozy evening, she was greeted by a strong smell of cat urine and dirt.

Shocking Discovery at the Boyfriend’s Home

The moment she stepped inside, the woman was overwhelmed by the foul odors and filth. She described the couch as torn and sticky, the blanket so dirty she chose to freeze rather than risk touching it, and walls layered with dust and cat hair.

“I was afraid to touch even (the blanket) though I was cold, because I’m not sure it’s ever seen a washing machine. When I got home, I washed my clothes and took a shower because I just felt dirty, although I’m sure that was just in my head,” she revealed.

Debate Over Honesty and Moving On

The woman decided not to return but was unsure whether to tell her boyfriend about the state of his home. She turned to Reddit for advice with a post titled, “Do I tell him that his dirty house is why I won’t see him again?” The post received nearly 200 reactions.

Many users were supportive of her decision to walk away. One commenter said, “It’s a full-out no from me.” Another added, “He might be very well aware of the level of cleanliness… Idk how likely someone in that state is to be trying to date though.”

The woman’s experience sparked a wider conversation online about red flags in relationships and the importance of hygiene.
