In a disturbing episode highlighting the ongoing concerns around women’s safety in Mumbai, a woman was harassed by a shirtless, seemingly intoxicated man while she was commuting in an autorickshaw. The incident occurred around 7 PM on Saturday at a traffic signal in Bandra.
According to the woman, the man approached her auto asking for food. When she ignored him, he allegedly turned aggressive and intrusive. The woman recorded the incident and posted the video on X (formerly Twitter), tagging Mumbai Police for action.
“He Grabbed My Thigh and Blamed My Clothes”
Narrating the ordeal, the woman said, “A random drunkard/beggar comes up to my auto & asks me for food, which I ignore. Out of nowhere, he slides his hand into the auto and GRABS MY THIGH, and says ‘khana de na’. He started screaming at me, saying things along the likes of ‘Wear full clothes if you don’t want to be touched, this is India, I can do whatever I want to you’.”

In the video, the man was seen shouting on the pavement and spitting on the street. At one point, he was heard screaming, “…Mujhe, mujhe aisa nahi chua”, while behaving aggressively in public.
Woman Feared for Her Safety as Auto Drove Off
The woman further shared that she felt unsafe even after the traffic signal turned green. “Thankfully the signal turned green, I was super scared of this man either jumping into my auto, or following me home,” she wrote.
Her post quickly gained traction online, with users tagging Mumbai Police and demanding swift action.
Mumbai Police Responds
Mumbai Police responded to her post the next day, nearly 12 hours after the incident. Their official handle commented, “We have followed you. Please share your contact details in DM.” The woman acknowledged the response and confirmed she had shared her information privately.
