A wedding in Rajasthan’s Karauli district turned chaotic on Saturday night when the groom abruptly refused to complete the seventh round of the marriage ritual. The couple had already taken six rounds without any issues, but his sudden decision left everyone shocked.
Infuriated by the groom’s withdrawal, the bride’s family reportedly held him, his father, and other family members hostage. The incident occurred in Nadoti tehsil, where tensions quickly escalated.
Police Step In, But No Legal Case Registered
Nadoti Police Station Officer Veer Singh confirmed that police reached the venue after receiving information about the incident. “We spoke with both sides, but they declined to pursue any legal action,” Singh said. The police are currently monitoring the situation without filing any charges.
Panchayat Mediation Underway
Given the rural setting, the matter is being mediated by local community leaders. Elderly members of the Panchayat and Panch Patel are attempting to resolve the issue through dialogue. Reports suggest that the bride’s family spent nearly ₹56 lakh on the wedding, and discussions are ongoing about whether the groom’s family should return the money.
Phone Call Sparked Groom’s Exit
Locals believe a mysterious phone call triggered the groom’s decision. During the wedding rounds, the groom allegedly received a call from a girl, prompting him to halt the ceremony. While the exact details remain unclear, this call reportedly influenced his refusal to proceed.
Authorities continue to keep a close watch on the situation to prevent further disturbances. As mediation continues, villagers hope for a peaceful resolution without legal complications.
