Saudi Man’s Stunning 542-Kg Weight Loss: From 610 Kg To 63 kg!

New Delhi: Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari, once recognized as the heaviest man alive, has achieved a remarkable weight loss of 542 kg. His journey from 610 kg to a healthy 63 kg is a testament to medical innovation and compassionate intervention.

A Life-Changing Intervention

In 2013, Khalid weighed a staggering 610 kg and was bedridden for over three years. His condition had deteriorated to the point where he relied on others for basic needs. Moved by Khalid’s plight, Saudi Arabia’s former King Abdullah initiated a comprehensive plan to save his life.

King Abdullah arranged for Khalid to receive top-tier medical care at no cost. Transported from his home in Jazan to King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh via forklift and a specially designed bed, Khalid was met by a team of 30 medical professionals. They crafted a rigorous treatment and diet regimen tailored to his needs.

The Treatment Plan

Khalid’s treatment included:

  • Gastric Bypass Surgery: A critical step in reducing his weight.
  • Customized Diet: Designed to address his unique nutritional needs.
  • Exercise and Physiotherapy: Aimed at improving mobility and overall health.

Supported by leading Middle Eastern scientists, Khalid’s transformation was nothing short of extraordinary. Within six months, he had lost nearly half of his body weight.

A Remarkable Transformation

By 2023, Khalid’s weight had dropped to 63.5 kg, marking a loss of 542 kg. His physical change was so dramatic that he required several excess skin removal surgeries to adjust to his new body shape. Despite the challenges, his story remains one of incredible success and resilience.

The Smiling Man

Today, Khalid is affectionately known as “The Smiling Man,” a nickname given by the medical staff who witnessed his inspiring transformation. His journey from the heaviest man alive to a symbol of triumph over adversity highlights the power of medical intervention and the impact of compassionate care.

Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari’s story serves as an inspiring example of how dedicated support and advanced medical treatment can lead to remarkable life changes.
