Comedian Samay Raina, who hosts India’s Got Latent, has returned to Instagram as he prepares to resume his stand-up career with a global tour. It is his first post since February, when he was at the center of controversy for his YouTube show and was mentioned in an FIR.
Raina got into trouble in February when his show India’s Got Latent was criticized for alleged vulgarity. He was called by the police and booked on an FIR. Since then, he had stayed away from Instagram, with his last post being on February 9.
On May 14, Raina ended his social media hiatus by posting a video and chain of Instagram Stories showcasing moments with his family and friends. He also announced plans for his upcoming tour, which will kick off on June 5 and visit destinations in Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Some of the pictures posted were moments captured in the candid sense having lunch with Gursimran Khamba, video calling his parents, working out, and interacting with fellow comedian Tanmay Bhat. Interestingly, one photo had him toasting with Apoorva Mukhija aka The Rebel Kid, who too was mentioned in the FIR and had featured in the same offending episode.

After carefully following these pictures, the 27-year-old comedian posted a heartfelt note on the Smug Smiley burden he had been carrying around. “Aaj kuch zyaada hi storyiaan daaldi,” he stated. “Bohot ghutan si thi yaar kya bataau kaafi nikaal diya ek saath hi.”
Thanking them for the support that he has found, Raina further said, “I love you all. I’m really happy to experience all this love. I just can’t wait to see you guys in my shows in other countries and also in India. I’m too grateful to you all.”
