Like anyone struggling to adjust to a new place, a zebra named Ed decided to bolt. Just one day after arriving at his new home in Rutherford County, Tennessee, Ed dashed into the nearby woods, setting off a week-long chase that ended with a dramatic aerial rescue and a viral video.
According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Ed was reported missing on May 31—only 24 hours after he was brought home. Over the following days, the elusive zebra was spotted several times across the region, including along the busy Interstate 24. To prevent accidents, authorities temporarily shut down parts of the highway while trying to capture him.
Despite numerous efforts, Ed managed to outsmart rescuers and vanish into Tennessee’s greenery.
