A thrilling 3D horror movie night turned into a real-life nightmare for one woman in Argentina after a section of a theatre ceiling collapsed mid-screening.
The shocking incident occurred on Monday at Cinema Ocho in La Plata during a screening of Final Destination: Bloodlines, the sixth installment in the popular horror franchise. The audience was deeply engrossed in the film’s high-intensity climax when disaster struck.
‘We Thought It Was Part of the Movie’
Fiamma Villaverde had come to watch the movie with her 11-year-old daughter and her daughter’s friend. What started as a regular outing quickly spiraled into chaos.
“At first, we thought it was part of the movie because we were so absorbed,” Fiamma said, recounting the moment. “But then a huge piece fell on me,” she added.
A panel from the ceiling struck her knee, causing an injury that required urgent medical care. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently recovering.
Life Disrupted by a Movie Mishap
The injury has impacted Fiamma’s daily life, forcing her to take leave from her job at a local bar. Though she hasn’t filed an official complaint, she confirmed, “I haven’t filed a complaint yet, but I’ve contacted a lawyer.”
Netizens React to the Bizarre Coincidence
As images and videos from the scene circulated online, social media users were quick to draw eerie parallels between the movie and the real-life incident.
“She got the full experience,” one user commented. Another wrote, “A final destination moment while watching Final Destination is absolutely insane.”
The irony of the moment wasn’t lost on anyone. What was meant to be an immersive film experience ended up echoing the very horror that played out onscreen only this time, it was for real.
