Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Kazan, Russia, to participate in the 16th BRICS Summit. Upon his arrival at the Hotel Korston, he was warmly welcomed by the local Russian community, who greeted him with Krishna Bhajans. Volunteers from ISKCON, representing both Russian and Indian communities, chanted “Hare Krishna, Hare Ram” in celebration of the Prime Minister’s visit.
Speaking to ANI, ISKCON volunteer Sergoy expressed the significance of the occasion, stating, “Hare Krishna is a Mahamantra. This visit of PM Modi to Kazan is important for us, and we are happy.” The Prime Minister engaged with the volunteers, accepting their greetings.
The summit, chaired by Russia, is centered around the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security.” According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), it will serve as a vital platform for leaders to address critical global issues. The summit is expected to provide an opportunity to review the progress of various BRICS initiatives and explore potential areas for future collaboration.
In addition to attending the summit, PM Modi is also anticipated to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other BRICS member countries. Indian students in Kazan expressed their delight at the Prime Minister’s arrival for this significant event.
