Parle-G Costs Rs 5 In India, But Gaza Man Pays Rs 2,300 For It | WATCH

A heartwarming yet heartbreaking video from war-ravaged Gaza is stirring emotions across the internet — particularly in India — after a father revealed the staggering price he paid to get his daughter her favourite snack, Parle-G biscuits.

Mohammad Jawad, a resident of Gaza, posted a clip on X (formerly Twitter) showing his daughter, Rafif, sitting on his lap as she slowly unwrapped the biscuit pack. The moment, simple yet deeply emotional, symbolised the extreme scarcity that civilians in Gaza face daily.

“After a long wait, I finally got Rafif her favourite biscuits today,” Jawad captioned the video. He said the price of the biscuits had surged from €1.5 to over €24, nearly ₹2,342. In India, a single packet of Parle-G costs just ₹5. Though unclear whether the amount mentioned was for a single pack or a bulk purchase, the message was clear: essentials have turned into rare luxuries in Gaza.

Social Media Responds with Empathy and Doubt

The video rapidly went viral, with many expressing solidarity, heartbreak, and anger over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

“More love and power to you, Rafif and everyone fighting for their everyday life,” one user commented, reflecting the sentiment shared by many.

However, not all responses were in agreement. A few questioned the motive behind choosing Parle-G biscuits. “There are numerous types of biscuits available in the world, why does he specifically choose Parle-G, because he can easily connect with the Indian mass and gain their favour,” wrote one skeptical user.

Others chose to focus on the human side of the story. “Keep her safe,” read another comment, capturing the collective wish of viewers watching the video from afar.

A Harsh Glimpse Into Gaza’s Everyday Struggles

Since the war broke out in October 2023, Gaza has remained under siege, with essential supplies, including food and medicine, in critically short supply. Reports describe famine-like conditions, and Jawad’s viral post underscores just how severe things have become, especially for children.

While Rafif’s smile after receiving her favourite snack brings a brief moment of joy, it also serves as a stark reminder of the unseen toll that war exacts on the innocent.
