A user shared a terrible experience with OYO, where she booked a room for the night but was forced to vacate it an hour later. According to the user, the hotel manager told her that the room’s price was wrong in the online listings, and they either had to pay extra or leave.

The user, under the username “loverseraaa,” commented, “Today booked a room in OYO to spend one night as today morning I had to go from somewhere else and my home was quite far from there in the city.”. But being OYO, OYO the hotel manager checked me in when I had come verifying my online booking, yet an hour into staying here this gentleman knocked at my door again said the owner rang and would not let that room at the rate that had been charged me on this. Online the listing has wrong, price to charge is extra”.

They were shifted to another hotel after calling customer care. The reception was unmanned, and the hotel was in a very poor condition. The user continued, “I called customer care again he said the hotel owner was not picking up the call and then asked me to relocate again to a different hotel which was 7km away from my location.”

The user was not able to get anything sorted out. She requested for refund but was asked to go back to the OTA platform. “Nothing worked I requested to shift somewhere near the railway station, but it seemed like this was not possible for them. I requested for refund and I got a response saying you were from the OTA platform and you have to call them for a refund.”. Given that there was nothing left to do, and since I was late enough to enter any of the new hotels, I decided to stay at the station. And here I am sleeping on the platform.

The video explaining the experience gained immense popularity, garnering over 17.2 million views. Many viewers shared their similar experiences and even advised others not to book with OYO. One user said, “Still people are using OYO? It’s better to move to other platforms which provide better customer care and list only genuine hotels.” Another added, “So happy that someone posted this ruckus done by OYO. We too faced a similar situation when booked OYO Hotel for the family. The prices were low on the website and we paid the entire amount. However, when we reached the property they said your payment is due for 16k. We were asked to pay more and take a room with a window cooler or go somewhere else.

A third commenter commented, “OYO is a scam. I have experienced the same. Make My Trip is the best platform to book however they’ll charge you a little bit more than their competitors but the facilities and support system is top-notch.”
