Nurse Kicked Out For ‘Too Revealing’ Outfit From Steakhouse

A nurse from Louisiana, Y’Mine McClanahan, revealed on Facebook that she was kicked out from a steakhouse she frequently visited. According to McClanahan, the management at Stabs Prime Steak and Seafood in Baton Rouge deemed her outfit “too revealing” and in violation of the restaurant’s dress code.

On her day out at the steakhouse, McClanahan wore a floral tube top and a long skirt. She stated in her post that she had worn the same outfit to a different location “several times” without issue. However, during her recent visit, she was informed about a new change in the restaurant’s dress code policy, as reported by the New York Post.

“People can wear jeans, regular t-shirts, and their waitresses can wear mini skirts with their butt hanging out and fishnets, but my set is too revealing for the ‘atmosphere’ they’re trying to create,” the family nurse practitioner wrote. “Never again. I’m done with Stabs.”

McClanahan also shared a video of a heated exchange with the steakhouse’s co-owner, Dori Murvin, who pointed out that her outfit was “too revealing at the top.” In the video, Murvin is seen gesturing over her chest, explaining why McClanahan’s outfit was unacceptable.

“I just wanted to get it on camera why I can’t come in with what I have on,” McClanahan asked in the video. Murvin responded, “This is just too revealing at the top.” McClanahan countered that the waitresses’ outfits were more revealing, but her comment was ignored. Murvin emphasized that the dress code had been strictly enforced for some time.

McClanahan asserted that her $75 outfit was not revealing her “breast” and was suitable for wearing. She also uploaded a video showing a waitress at the steakhouse wearing a short skirt and fishnets.

Feeling humiliated, McClanahan decided to go to a nearby restaurant, where she received multiple compliments on her outfit. “I left feeling kind of mortified, violated, ashamed, and really humiliated because I had never had something like this happen to me as a working professional,” McClanahan told WAFB. “You feel alienated, and it’s like, well, what’s wrong with me? What’s the problem with me?”

The steakhouse’s website specifies that tank tops are not allowed inside the restaurant. McClanahan’s Facebook post quickly gained attention, with many users expressing support and outrage. One user wrote, “AWFUL!! It’s not even revealing or anything. I’m sorry sis!” Another commented, “So you can’t wear that, but the waitress can wear what she had on? Make that make sense.” A third user stated, “Sorry this happened to you sis. Disgusting. Will never patronize them.”
