Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as King Rama X, holds the title of the world’s richest monarch, with an estimated fortune of ₹3.7 lakh crore (around USD 43 billion), according to Business Standard. His staggering wealth places him above many of the world’s top billionaires.
A Kingdom of Luxury
The king’s wealth is rooted in a combination of massive inheritance and strategic investments. He reportedly owns over 17,000 properties in Bangkok alone. His love for luxury is evident in his ownership of more than 300 high-end cars, 38 private jets, and 52 gold-plated boats, showcasing his dominance across land, air, and sea.
Royal Inheritance and Lineage
King Vajiralongkorn inherited the throne and vast assets after the passing of his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, one of the longest-reigning monarchs in history. While Bhumibol passed away on October 13, 2016, Vajiralongkorn officially ascended the throne in 2019.
Born to King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, Vajiralongkorn received an international education. He completed his studies in Thailand, the UK, and Australia, later earning a bachelor’s degree in military studies from Canberra’s Royal Military College.
Military Skills and Personal Life
Aside from his education, Vajiralongkorn is also a trained pilot, certified to fly both fighter jets and helicopters. In the 1970s, he actively participated in military operations against communist insurgents in Thailand.
Throughout his life, he has married four times, each union drawing attention from media and the public. His lavish lifestyle, alongside his controversial personal life, continues to keep him in global headlines.
Despite periodic criticism, King Vajiralongkorn stands tall as one of the most powerful and wealthiest monarchs in the world.
