Meet Pankha Baba: The Man Who Stops Ceiling Fans with One Hand

A viral Instagram video features a specially-abled baba who stops a ceiling fan with his bare hand, set to the song “Laddu Muttya.” The clip has inspired numerous recreations, with many users dancing to the catchy tune. But who is this viral figure?

In the clip, a group of people lifts the baba, seated in a chair, allowing him to reach the ceiling fan. He touches the fan several times before finally bringing it to a halt. Afterward, he blesses the devotees who helped him by placing dust on their foreheads. Once they lower him back to the ground, the fan resumes spinning at high speed, all while the song dedicated to him plays in the background.

Who is Laddu Mutya, aka Pankha Baba?

Laddu Mutya, known as Pankha Baba, reportedly ran away from home to avoid marriage and ended up in Bagalkote, Karnataka, where he survived for over 20 years on alms. Despite his hardships, he was believed to bring prosperity wherever he went. His visits to homes and shops were said to result in financial gains, leading people to believe he possessed miraculous powers.

His influence earned him the name “Laddu Mutya,” which became widely recognized as tales of his miraculous deeds spread throughout the region. Reports suggest that Laddu Mutya passed away in 1993, and in his honor, temples were established in Bagalkote, where he is venerated as a spiritual figure.

It’s important to note that the man seen in the viral videos is not Laddu Mutya himself, but rather one of the priests from the temple dedicated to him.
