In a bizarre incident that has taken the internet by storm, a man working in Chennai shocked his employer by citing an eerie reason for taking a month-long leave—his wife, he claimed, was possessed by a ghost.
The story came to light after a user shared the details on X (formerly Twitter), recounting his interaction with the man, who cleans his car. The worker initially said he had to return to Nepal due to a family emergency. Sympathetic to the situation, the employer offered to help financially—until the man revealed, “Mere wife ko chudail ne pakad liya hai (A ghost has possessed my wife).”
According to the post, the woman had a known heart condition—she had a hole in her heart—but her husband insisted this was not a medical crisis. What unsettled the employer further was the man’s next revelation. “In the last 6 months, she’s started speaking fluent Tamil. Not a few words. Entire sentences. Almost like a native speaker. She’s never learned Tamil,” the user wrote.
Living in a close-knit Nepali community in Chennai with limited exposure to Tamil, the sudden fluency in the language left the employer baffled. He added that the woman had been taken to a government hospital, but doctors found no medical explanation for her behavior.
Desperate, the man turned to faith. “He had taken her to a nearby mosque, where rituals were performed for two months. Despite all efforts, nothing changed,” the user explained. The imam, unable to help further, advised, “Take her back home. If she stays here, she may not survive.”
The employer concluded, “I’m still processing what I just heard.” He also noted that the man was unusually intelligent and eager to learn. “I even got him a second-hand laptop last year, considering his intelligence, interest, and grasp for picking new things up, especially tech.”
The story has garnered wide attention online, with many expressing a mix of disbelief and concern. One user commented, “Seen a psychiatrist? A lot of such behaviours could stem from mental conditions. She may have had the condition for a while and has been quietly learning Tamil passively. Now, some trigger has outwardly manifested the problem.”
Another user wrote, “Unheard of! I can only pray for her recovery,” while someone else added, “Unbelievable. The story must have something more than what meets the eye.”
In a related bizarre incident, a 25-year-old man in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly died after being bitten multiple times by a cobra. Shockingly, the snake stayed near his body for hours, continuing to bite even after death. Locals speculated the act was driven by “revenge,” though such claims have no scientific backing.
These incidents, though far apart, reflect how superstition and unexplained events continue to blur the lines between folklore and reality in parts of India.
