Liver Doc Criticizes This Billionaire Over Viral ‘Alcohol Is Good Business’ Podcast

Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, known as ‘The Liver Doc’ on social media, criticized Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath for his recent podcast discussion on the liquor industry in India. Philips accused Kamath and his fellow participants of glorifying the alcohol business, which he strongly opposes due to his daily encounters with patients suffering from alcohol use disorder and related liver diseases.

According to Philips, the podcast seemed to endorse the idea that alcohol consumption could be equated with beneficial healthcare practices, a viewpoint he vehemently disputes. He condemned the notion that moderate alcohol consumption is beneficial, labeling it as health misinformation and even suggesting it could be considered criminal to promote such beliefs.

He highlighted the devastating impact of alcohol on individuals and families, citing cases where alcohol use had led to financial ruin and severe health crises. Philips also criticized instances of drunk driving, which he linked to tragic accidents.

In his social media post, Philips expressed frustration with discussions like the podcast, arguing they offer no constructive value and instead contribute to societal harm. He called for efforts that genuinely benefit society and criticized the podcast team for what he deemed an irresponsible choice of topic.

Earlier, Philips had also publicly criticized actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu for endorsing hydrogen peroxide nebulisation as a treatment for viral infections, accusing her of lacking understanding in health and science. Despite her subsequent clarification, Philips maintained his stance, criticizing her for promoting alternative practices.

As of now, there has been no response from Nikhil Kamath regarding Philips’ criticisms.
