Ex-Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav celebrated his 78th birthday on Wednesday, June 11, with grandeur, with workers, family, and well-wishers of the party all over the state commemorating the day.
In viral social media videos, Lalu Yadav is spotted slicing a huge 78-kg laddoo cake with a ceremonial sword surrounded by family members including his daughter Misa Bharti and son, Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav. His party workers presented him with the sword, giving the celebration a symbolic touch of strength and merriment.
In addition to the laddoo cake, Lalu also sliced another cake in the form of the number “78.” His house in Patna became a center of activity, with party workers treating the occasion like a festival. From cultural events and music to slogan-shouting and the distribution of sweets, the festivities highlighted the RJD’s strong roots among the people.
Complementing the warmth of the day, Tejashwi Yadav’s wife, Rajshree Yadav, posted warm family moments on her X handle. Her post featured Lalu Yadav with grandchildren around him and cutting multiple cakes. She captioned it, “Himalayas of courage, the ocean of justice, the burning flame of public awareness, the voice of the deprived. Wishing respected Papa a very happy 78th birthday! If you are there, then everything is there!”
The RJD also observed the day as ‘Social Justice and Goodwill Day’, upholding Lalu Yadav’s long-term crusade for the less fortunate. To observe the day, the party held food and book distribution, tree plantation campaigns, and community outreach programs at district and state levels.
Cultural events and cake-cutting functions are organized all across Bihar throughout the day, extending the celebratory theme beyond his Patna home.
