Just hours after India and Pakistan publicly agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire, loud explosions were reportedly heard across Srinagar, sparking widespread outrage on social media and drawing strong reactions from political leaders.
Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to social media late Saturday night, posting a video that appeared to show drones and missiles, allegedly fired by Pakistan, being intercepted by India’s air defence systems. In the clip, multiple loud blasts echoed through the sky, raising questions about the legitimacy of the ceasefire.
Abdullah wrote, “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!” In a follow-up post, he added, “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up.”

The video, which quickly went viral, triggered a wave of backlash from Indian netizens. Users expressed anger and disbelief over the situation, questioning the point of a ceasefire that seemingly broke down within hours.

One social media user wrote, “Never trust Pakistan.” Another commented, “So what’s the point of this ‘ceasefire’ if nothing stops even after 4 hours???” A third quipped sarcastically, “It was just a drinks break, and the war resumes after the break is over.”

Critics also questioned the role of international mediators, particularly US President Donald Trump, who had earlier claimed credit for facilitating the ceasefire. One user asked, “Sir, where is Trump..?”
Earlier in the day, President Trump had said, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”
Before the explosions, Omar Abdullah had welcomed the ceasefire, expressing hope that it would lead to normalcy. “Now that we have a ceasefire, I hope the airports can be reopened quickly & civil flights can resume. We have a backlog of hajis who should have been in Medina by now. I hope the Union Government will move quickly to reopen airspace & enable us to resume Haj flights from Srinagar,” he posted.
